Strengthening Industry–Academia Collaboration for Innovation and Regional Development

A delegation from 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯, 𝗚𝘂𝗷𝗿𝗮𝘁 visited the 𝗚𝘂𝗷𝗿𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 & 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 (𝗚𝗧𝗖𝗖𝗜), where 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗧𝗖𝗖𝗜, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻, warmly welcomed 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗚𝗵𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗺 𝗛𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗻, along with the esteemed members of the delegation.
The interactive meeting included Registrar Gohar Ayub, Deputy Director Kashif Sandhu, Dr. Zafar Iqbal (Chairperson, Department of Pharmacy), and Dr. Shahzad Adeel (Chairperson, Department of Business Education) from The University of Chenab, Gujrat. From GTCCI, Senior Vice President Ikram Afzal Butt, General Secretary Usman Muzzafar, Executive Member Masoom, Executive Member Abid Hussain, Mr. Qamar, Executive Member Salman Butt, and other respected members also graced the session.

The University of Chenab and the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce & Industry have joined hands to strengthen industry–academia linkages, promote collaborative innovation, and develop solution-oriented research for regional industrial challenges. Both institutions have been collaborating on industrial research, social services, and community development. UChenab already maintains an office within the GTCCI building, and plans were discussed to revitalize office with renewed zeal and commitment to better serve the industry.
President GTCCI Ahmad Hassan highlighted his vision to revolutionize Gujrat’s industrial and business landscape by integrating modern education, innovation, and skilled talent. Rector Dr. Ghulam Hussain emphasized UChenab’s dedication to producing industry-ready graduates and addressing real-world industrial challenges through research-driven solutions and extended a warm invitation to President GTCCI and his team to visit The University of Chenab, Gujrat.

UChenab Innovation Hub in collaboration with Department of Computer Science organized “Inter University Startup Idea 2023” at The University of Chenab Gujrat. 13 universities form the region participated in the event. Delegates from academia, industry and IT were called to see student’s ideas of startups. The “Uchenab Inter University Startup Idea 2023” is an event that provided opportunity to deep dive into the heart of startup success: efficient project management and development. Universities students explored the essential strategies, tools, and techniques needed to transform innovative ideas into functional, user-friendly IT technologies.

The Department of Computer Science has arranged one day seminar on “Breaking into Cyber Security” at The University of Chenab Gujrat. Mr. Faheem Fayyaz (Chief Specialist , Detection & Response Team Solutions by STC, Saudi Arabia) was the keynote speaker. He highlighted the trends and transformations in the realm of cyber security as the breach of this security can lead to serious consequences. His thought-provoking ideas made students aware about career trends in this field. At the end of the event, Pro-Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmed Bilal Waqar awarded the organizers with certificates as well.
